What is Vibration Testing?

Vibration testing and data promotes a better understanding of machine health, efficiency and better productivity, estimates & operating schedules. By compiling and collating data of any machine’s lifetime of wear and stress into a short period of time, vibration testing helps by providing insights to the working status and condition of machines, structures and even products.

How does vibration testing help?

Vibration testing is done by replicating conditions (under a test environment) that a product, machine or structure might go through or see in its lifetime, including conditions during transit as well as operations. Hence, vibration testing pre-empts performance issues and potential failures even before they start or occur.

What is a Vibration Meter or Tester?

A Vibration Meter or Vibration Tester is an electronic instrument that can process vibration signals using a sensor which generates a voltage signal from the vibrations it senses when in contact with machines. These signals are transmitted to the instrument through a cable and used to measure the vibration acceleration, vibration velocity (speed) and / or vibration displacement of the machine and displayed with high precision on the meter. Most of these meters can record these data over time with built-in data loggers and even present analytic reports from data over time.

Portable and hand-held Vibration Testers are easy to use for vibration testing and analysing, do not require extensive training and come in very handy to monitor and diagnose issues or problems with bearings, engines, pumps and other machines and machine components.
